What happens to transparent backgrounds?
JPG doesn’t support transparency, so transparent pixels are filled with the background colour you pick. White is the default.
What quality should I choose?
90–95% looks identical to the original for most images while still being much smaller than PNG. Use 80–85% if you need even smaller files.
Why is my JPG bigger than the PNG?
This can happen with simple graphics that have few colours, such as logos, which PNG stores very efficiently. Keep those images as PNG.
Are my images uploaded?
No. The conversion happens in your browser, and your files stay on your device.
When to keep PNG instead
JPG is ideal for photos. For logos, icons, diagrams and screenshots with small text, JPG compression can cause blurry edges and halos. Keep those as PNG, or use high quality (95% or more) if you must convert.
