Frequently asked questions
Do these QR codes expire?
No. They are static QR codes: the link or text is encoded directly in the image, so they work forever and don’t depend on this website.
Can I change the link after printing?
No. Static codes can’t be edited after creation. To change where a printed code points, encode a link you control and change what that page shows or redirects to.
Which format should I download?
Use SVG for print and design software, because it scales without losing sharpness. Use PNG for documents, presentations, websites and messaging apps.
What is error correction?
Error correction adds redundant data so the code still scans when partly damaged or covered. Higher levels are more robust but make the code denser. Medium is a good default; use High for print or if you’ll place a logo on top.
Is the content I enter stored?
No. The QR code is generated in your browser, and what you type is never sent to our servers.
Tips for QR codes that scan reliably
A few simple rules make QR codes work on almost every phone:
- Use dark modules on a light background. Inverted codes fail on many scanners.
- Keep the quiet zone, the empty border around the code, at least 4 modules wide.
- Print codes at least 2 × 2 cm, and larger when they’ll be scanned from a distance.
- Shorter content makes a simpler code that’s easier to scan. Use short URLs where possible.
- Always test the printed code with more than one phone before a large print run.
